WHO WE ARE

VMD Sculpting was founded in 2000 by Vlad Zhitomirsky and Mikhail Matveyev. Now, Vlad continues to work with his son, Daniel Zhitomirsky.  Their family business is located in the city of Soulard, near downtown St. Louis. Their specialties include sculpting original pieces, working with custom-made sculptures by other artists in various mediums and sizes, 3D digital work, and restoring damaged and weathered sculptures. Whether the work of art is classical, modern, or contemporary, VMD Sculpting guarantees quality and professionalism in every project.

VMD founder, Vlad Zhitomirsky, was born in Ukraine in 1960 and received his degree from Vizhnitsa College of Fine Arts in the Chernivtsi Region of western Ukraine. Following his education, Vlad worked as a fine arts instructor and sculptor before immigrating to St. Louis, MO in the early 1990s, where he went on to establish VMD Sculpting, Inc. From drawing to sculpting, the diversity of Vlad’s experience as a working artist is evident in his artistic and technical skills.  Starting from a sketch or a concept drawing,  Vlad can create a sculpture in any scale, from maquette or relief to life-size and larger.

Vlad uses a variety of mediums to create original art.  His range of techniques allows for the transformation of clay, wax, plaster, composite materials, and metal alloys into a finished work that can withstand the test of time.
