HOW WE CREATE
SELECT AN IMAGE FOR MORE DETAIL
Step 1: Concept and Design
Every sculpture begins with an idea. We start by creating sketches to visualize the piece and develop a clear design. Once finalized, we sculpt the design in clay, which allows us to refine every detail before making the mold.
Step 2: Making the Mold
Next, we create a mold using a special rubber material to perfectly capture the details of the clay sculpture. For support, a stronger “mother mold” is made around the rubber mold. This step is essential for reproducing the sculpture in other materials.
Step 3: Creating the Wax Model
We pour wax into the mold, producing an exact wax copy of the sculpture. At this stage, we carefully clean and touch up the wax to ensure it’s flawless for the next step.
Step 4: Bronze Casting (Lost Wax Method)
The wax sculpture is coated in ceramic, forming a hard shell. We heat the shell so the wax melts away, leaving a space for the bronze. Molten bronze is then poured in and allowed to cool, creating a hollow bronze version.
Step 5: Assembly and Finishing
Once the bronze sculpture is free from its ceramic shell, we assemble any separate pieces and weld them together. The sculpture is then meticulously cleaned, chased, and textured to match the original design, giving it a smooth, finished look.
Step 6: Patina and Installation
Finally, we apply chemicals to achieve the desired color and effect on the bronze, called a patina. The sculpture is polished, sealed for protection, and installed securely in its location.
